Davidson's store, and his clerks being out, he was naturally kept busy. Among tnose in the store were two men, one of whom got some samples of goods while the uther tarried near the door, leaning up against a pile of dress goods. While Mr. Davidson’s attention was diverted, the man near the door picked up a bolt of blue silk velvet and hurriedly skipped out, and the other soon followed. As soon as possible the police were in- formed, and Ofticor Beswick soon after arrested a man who was identified as the one who stole the goods. He gave his name as Clark. The goods were not found on him, his personal effects, consisting of a bottle of Jaudanum and a mouth organ. He was given back the latter and sat in his cell evolving music from it as unconcerned as though he was having a holiday. He was recognized as having been thery before, he having been forbear, as they savor too much of that that would offend the readers of Tur Bex.
