Edwin Bibby and Matsada Sova- kichi Have a Wrostling Match, Resalting in & Victory for the Eng- lishman—Very Quick Work, Nrw York, Jan, 14, - The great Japa- nese wrestlor, Matsada Sorakichi, was thrown in less time than it takes to pro- nounce his name by Edwin Bibby in Trving hall to-night. It was an enormous crowd that filled the main floor and pack- od the broad galleries and nearly every man_represented a dollar--half a dollar for Bibby and fifty cents for the Jap. The atakes, 8500 a side, were to go to the winner, and half an hour before the audience had seen Mr. Sorakichi they were offering five to three that he would lose his £050. The Jap came on in a brown and black checked night-gown, with his white satin laced shoos, red stockings and long black hair done up in a knot. He looked like a woman coming from a bath. He clutched the edges of the silk robe together modestly at his breast and lifted the tail of it to mount the platform exncl- lyas a woman would have done, He found on the platform a chair, towel and pitcher for himseli and the same for $80.000 for E:1- fRegular Monthly Drawing will take place in the Masonic Ifwl, Masonic Temple Buil- ding, in Louisvile, Ky. QUITE DIFFERENT, When Mr. Sorakichi threw aside the edges of his robes and stepped out of it, Bared to the waist he no longer looked like a woman. His fine form evoked voars of applause. His red stockings turned out to have been red drawers surmounted by dun-colored trunks tied at the top with a checked silk handker- chiof that would have made a dude’s eyes water. The crowd applauded and Mr Sorakichi grinned like a darky and arranged his back hair which was done up in a queue with the shape and pose of a rabbit’s tail, He is a very strong man, a little too fat, but with huge, ha calves, broad shoulders, arms all knobbed with bunches of muscle and the neck of lan Atlas. Hin faco was red, but his body was the color of coffee and milk. Bibby is a little man beside him, but what he lacked in size he made up in compactness. His skin is probably no whiter than that of any other cleanly man, but looked like driven snow beside that of his brown rival, “I'nose figures help to convey an iden of the appearance of the men us they stood in front of their chaira towelling 5,000 shares of tho Union Consolidated Silver themselver: Sorakichi-—Age, 23; weight, 170; height, 5 feet 7} 100hes. Next Sorakichi rushed at Bibby like a gust of wind and Bibby grasped him around the neck and awa; they went wheeling, twisting and stumb- ling until they came against the rear wall. Then they parted and came tegether again, and the Jap seemed not only to be the stronger, but to bo getting the best of the Englishman. Suddenly Bibby squirm- ed himself free, turned, caught the Jap on the inside of the left thigh, and on the right shoulder, and sent him with a crash in the direction of Japan. John Bradford NBBI‘]V Decapitated by Josse MoCarty, Patrlck Buokley pitliotl, the Scene of the Tragedy The Murderer in Jail, ‘s Farm, Near Pap- Nows was brought to this city last ovening of a horrible tragedy which took place yosterday morning on the farm of Patrick Buckley, about three miles south- east of Papillion, in which John Brad- ford was chopped to death Ly an axe in the hands of a fellow workman named Jesso MoCarty The two were at work in the woods Bradford had the con- of ground, and felling troes. tract for clearing a piece sub let a portion of the job to McCarty and a man named Cain, who was prosent at the time of the murder, and was the only witness to the blood curdling scene. srding to the story of Cain, ho and MecCarty folled a largo oak tree yesterday morn ing, which Bradford claimed he had re- served for his own use. As the tree fell to the ground, Bradford, who wasin another portion of the field, approached the two men and demanded that they coaso work on the tree, which they re- fused to do. Bradford then bocame en- raged and rushed at McCarty, who was engaged in trimming the fallen treo. Bradford had a large maul in his hands, and as he advanced toward McCarty he raised it as if to strike. McCarty drow back his ax and warned him not to ad- vance, but he paid no attention to the warning and rushed madly at McCarty. Just as Bradford was in readiness to strike McCarty, the ax which McCarty held was brought down upon Bradford’s neck, inflicting a horrible and mortal wound. The jugular vein was sovered, and Bradford was nearly decapitated by the blow. The murdered man did not_speak, but turned and started in the direction of Buckley's house, followed by Me- Carty, still brandishing the ax. 1o walked a distance of fiftoen yards, where he stopped and looked back at his mur- derer, raised his hands in a pitiful man- ner, and fell to the ground a corpse. The only important witness was the man Cain, who was an eye-witness to the horrible scene, and he teatified in substance as above. He endeavored in every way to shield the defendant and make it appear that he committed the act in self-defense.
