An unusual mishap in the way of a rail- road accident occured at the transfer on the other side, about 10 e’clock yester- day morning. It was the severe injury of a railroad man by being struck in the nce with a coupling-pin, with which ho had just made a coupling. John Fenton, a brakeman, had just coupled two sections of a freight train. The coupling was made all right. As he stepped back, the engineer “‘took up the slack” as the railroad men say. The coupling-pin flew out from its place, and struck Fenton with full force just under the eye. ~His face was badly cut, a gash three or four inches long being made.
