The gpinion provails that there is g harfiny between the Rock Tsland and the St. Paul than appears on the surfac and that the roads v hands against the Northw Traflic As: does. Reports were current yesterd that the Milwaukee & St. Paul’s object in creating this hubbub was tobring about a decline in stock, but the revelations made in yesterday’s Tribune, and which wero read with great interest and created considerable excitement, show that this trouble has been brewing for near year past, and that the Milwaukee Paul could not have acted as it did for the purpose only of breaking tho stock market, At the annual meeting of the stock- holders of the Utah Eastern railroad, held at the company's office, Salt La e, Utah, Nc 190, the following ofti were clected: President, Sidney Dillon; vice-president and managing director, E. Dickinson; sccretary, T. 8. McMurry. The board of directors chosen is as fol lows: S H. H. Clark, B. Dickinson, C. E. Wurtelle, W. W, Riter, R. 8. Cham- bers, Sidney Dillon, F. L. Ames, and T. J. The Chicago & Northwestern has just issued a circular announcing that Sun day, Nov. 25, 1883, at 12 noon, the tine on the various lines wonld be changed to conform to the time of the ninetieth meridian, or central time. The now stand- ard time will be nine minutes slower than Chicago time, which is now the standard for all the Winona & St. Peter and Da- kota, and fourteen minutes faster than the presont standard on the Winona & St. Peter and Dakota divisions. Cn the latter divisions employes will set their watches fourteen minutes faster, and the other divisions nine minutes slower, than their present time. General Manager S. H. Clark and Mr. Shelby, of the Union Pacitic, and the general managers of the Burlington and other roads interested in the Nebraska business, had a conferenee in Chicago Tuesday to agree upon uniform rates on business to and from Nebraska points. Commissioner Daniels, of the Colora- do Pool association, telegraphs as follows: ‘“ By mutual agreement all second class rates, cither hasing or local to points in the state of Kansas, will be withdrawn Dec. 1, and connecting roads are request- ed to take such rates out of their rate sheets,” THE CHE’ NE NORTHERN, The Cheyenne, Black Hills & Mon- tana Railroad company has filed its arti- cles of incorporation at the ofiice of Sec retary Morgan at Cheyenne.
