Special Dispatch to Tit Citicaco, October 20,—The improvement in business which board of trade merehants through two months of comparative stagnation have anxiously looked for seems to have fairly begun. The activity characterizing Saturday's trading continued to-day through a strong and at times wildly oxcited market. Wheat at the close showed an advance of nearly four cents over the ruling prices for Thursday last. The immediate causes for improvement were an incroased export demand, a decrease in the sible supply, rumors of wars, and, above all, the natural reaction of the market from a pro- tracted period of inactivity. Wheat opened strong and about jc above Saturday'’s close, and after declining fc to Zo advanced rapidly to nearly 1ho above the opening. Tho close was very strong, sustained by heavy local and outside buying. Country speenlators who never invest in a falling market sent in hoavy orders to-day, and the trading from the enstorn cities was very large. Altogether * business appears to have awakened, and an ity enterod upon. Intorest in wheat overshadowed the other cereals. Corn advanced about jc in sympathy with wheat, actual trading in it being limited, Hog pro- ducts were fairly active, more so than for some time, Prices were confined in a narrow vange. era of acl CHICAGO, CHicac0, October 29, —Flour—Market quiet and_ unchangod’ comimon ta chlco. spring wheat, 8h@be; Minnesota, 3h@dfo; bakers, 43@bio, patonts, siarc; e Southern sud Missour, 4{@5e, Michigan, @she Wheat—Demand active; unsettlod; opened wuk and lower; closed shado highor; rgular, 93@3ko for Ootober; 933@93fc for Novem: ber; 953@951c )ecember, 0 GI!I:.L for Janu- 1087 for.
