The wedding, in accordance with the new rules of the church, took place at 78 m. Mr. D. Doyle acted as graoms- man and Miss Katie Hogan as bridos- maid, After the ceremony a wedding foast took place at the residence of Mr. Rich- ard Burgess, there being a fino attend- ance present and a royal good time being enjpyed. Among thore present were T, J. Ruano, Dick Burdish, Peter Doylo and wife, William Leslic, James Laughney, James Ferrcll, M. Douglas and wife. In Liberty precinet, about twelve miles southwest from Ord, ixteen farm houses within a radius of sixteen miles, most of the occu- pants of which had bought their lands trom the Union Pacific railvoad com- pany or pre-empted them as United States Government land. Timber claims | were also numerous, and it is only a | question of a fow years when the in- habitants of this part of the Stato will have more timber than they need for domestic purposes. In the center of this vallev is a town site called after our junior U. 8. Senator, Hon. Charles F. Manderson, and through this point at no distant day the St. Jow and Western road will no doubt pass, Tho people of Ord, at no distant, period expect the railioad uplihere, but it is ha ly probable that it will be put through by that route, as by paseing through the Mira Valloy midway between the North and Middle Loup, it would traverse a country unexcelled for fortility, and which is already populous, and having sign of prosperity. Crops | every d are better there than in Douglas county, the grain in particular being well developod | and ripened and the same may be said of the county immediately adjoining. The county is well watered with streams and settlers find it unnecessary to dig for over 75 or 80 feet to reach water of the very best kind, There is no alkali or sand hills and nothing of the kind which might naturally be expected. Our | informant is convinced that this the garden spot of Nebraska and that its fu- ture is full of promise, and when it is considered that it is in the heart of what was once considered the vory centre of the Great American Desert it shows the boundless possibilities of our State in the future. e BTANBING HOOM ONLY. Wall Flowers at Boyd's Opera House, | ¢ The performance given last evening at Boyd's opera house by Wagner's Min- strels, was attended by an immense au- dience, in which were to be seen the faces of our most prominent citizens and theater goers. At 7:45 standing room only was an- nounced and after the curtain was rung up at 8 o'clockeveryone who came had to be denied admittance, and lose one of the ploasantest treats of the morson. The crush on the sidewalk was simply marvelous excopt to those who know what Happy Cal Wagner's minstrels can doin the way of drawing a crowd and the police found it impossible to clear the walka, As to the programme it may be said in brief that all the acts were new, the wit- ticisms and conundrums of Happy Cal, Low Sponcer and Sam Price koun, fresh and refreshing, and in short the oentire entertainment decidedly novel aud intor- onting. The performance of Harry Mack, the club swinger, was wondorful, aud has fow if any equals in the specialty line, Harry B.
