There was an immense concourse of peo- ple present, which was put at fully 6,000. Preparations had been made in the court houso park under the joint facturers asseu i is will make a total reduction of five per cent., which they claim has been effected by changes in the tariff. This is claimed to be the ultima- tum of the manufacturers, and that 60 per cent. of all the country have pledged themselves uncompromisingly to abide byit. The manufacturers all declare they look for a long fight, but expect to win jin the end. They assert that the union in workers in glass is one of the strongest in the country, but has grown arbitrary and dictatorial to a de- greo that they are compelled to.make the fight an offensive one. Nothing is known here as to the probable action of the workmen. | —— TING NOTES., The Race of the Omaha Boys at Cedar Rapds, Sp 'O Special dispatch to Tie Bee, CrpAnr Raripg, Towa, August 20.—The game between the Union Pacific base ball club of Omaha and the Cedar Rapids, on the grounds of the latter, to-day, was a foot race for the visitors, they scoring 283 to 6 for the home club.
