No one scems to know exactly why there is this delay, but it is surmised to be on account of the Hill investiga tion, which causes a general suspension of other activities in the architect's de partment, Those intending to use fancy car decorated designs, chromos, comicaliti ete., for distribution at the coming fair, should call at the Council Bluffs Bre oftice, where they will find the greatest variety and the most complete showing ever displayed west of Chicago. The productions of all the leading manufac turers in this line are here to be found, and no where else is there such an oppor tunity to have all styles and designs to select from. Those who are intending to use anything in this line should get in their orders early, that the cards may be printed in time for use, There is the promise of some lively liti gation in regard to the cutting down of Pierce street. J. M. Mr. Lemen Once More Fir Seated in the Pulpit, The troubles which have of late been attending the pastorate of the Baptist church were settled at a business meet ing held Thursday evening. Rev. Mr. Lemen a time back resigned the pastorate and was then recalled as a supply, which called forth some opposition and caused a number to withdraw from the society. Last Tuesday evening, at the regular business meeting of the church, he was settled as a permanent pastor, theré being no further opposition, the disaffected ones who had not alreedy withdrawn asking for and being granted their letters, there being fifteen of these, which added to the eleven who withdrew before makes twen ty-six, The remainder of the church is united and now that they have settled Mr. Lemen as a regular or and all opposition to him is removed from the church, they will have no occasion now for any further divisions or contentions X — New carpets in all grades at HarkEss Brotiens, e The Blackert Case, About the only sensation in the court yesterday was monopolized by Justice Abbott. The prosecution finally agreed to admit th she would testify toall that it was claimed she would swear to, and the court deci ded in that view the matter not to gant the continuance, a very happy relief for the justice, as the sane asylum.
