Baldwin appeared and argued the Silver Creek township contro- versy by which it is sought to be settled who is the rightful custodian of the school funds, Last March the township consolidated into an independent school district, and the board elected a new treasurer, who claims the funds, while the other side claim that the treasu elected last September shall serve out the | full year. The latter officer does not care to fight for the position or hold on to the Funds, but he fears that he and his bonds- men will be legally liable if they turn over the funds to the other treasurer, there being a doubt as to the validity of the new election.
