F. & A, M., Munday eveniog, rink, Saturday night, saw a very large at. | April 16th, for work in tho F. C. degree. tendance, it being made the ocossion of the contest for the gold watch and chain offered by Max Meyer & Bro, to the best Iady skater, The contestants were Mies Ida Sharpe, Miss Edith Van Aernam, Miss Shipman, Miss Ella Dacham and Miss Anoa Danbam, and the judges were Messrs, W lson, Carpenter, Morgan, Now- ell, Max Meyer, White and Smith, The prize was awarded to Miss Dunham, Mr. W. 8, Helphrey, on behalf of the friends of Manager Ligh:ford, presented that gen- tleman with a gold ssarf pin—a crane's head, with raby oye and a diamond in the boak, —9omemonths ago a resolulion wa: passed by the council to the effact that if Capt. Marsh, of the Omahs street railway, did not lay his track on Douglas streot within a specified time he should forfeit his right to that line, The Millard hotel folks have been anxious to have street railway connection with the depot and other parts of the city, and their agite- tion of the subject makes it likely that & track will be begun this week, so as to avold interruption with or from the asphalt pavement laying, It will bea good step. —The recent concert at the North Pres- byterian church was not as well attended aa it should have been, or as it justly de- verved, The programme, with » fow ex. oeptions, was well rendered and gave good satisfaction. Sarprise was expressed at the degree of perfection by choruses in so short a time of dnll. The solo, duet and quartette singers aoquitted themselves well, Altogether the concert was an en- Jjoyable affair, and was requested to be re- peated on Tuesday evening, the 17th iust, ~~The Saturday evening performance at Turner hall was a satisfactory ene in all respects, and the attendance quite good. It was the ocosslon of & benefit to Mr. Jack Hanley, manager of the gymnasiam, and the programme was o varied one, adapted to the ooossion.
