The body of the audience comprised hundreds of the first people of the city but there was also & great many of ‘‘the garg” who generally rematned in the background, baut it was evident that all classes were pleased with the speaker’s effort, Tae service commenced by singing, “Rescue the Perirhing,” which was followed by prayer by Rw. W J. Harsha,” Preclous Promise” and ‘‘Beulah Land” were then sung after which Rav, A. F. Sherrill led in 107:h Psalm by the reformer. Upon this text Mr. Hogan made a most eloquent and earnest address, fieat relating the story of his own life, his conversion and religions work and experience, and then drawing the nataral conclusions therefrom. The speaker has a fine appearance on the stsge, is easy and graceful in delivery, chotce in his language except where he wishes to make the lesson intelligible to those accustomed to slang ex- preesions, and is oclear and distinot Oae can listen tohim without tiring, and there is humor as well as earnest conviction in his talks.
