A Tin Bex Diappears With $600 in Casb, Doors and Windows Bolted and no Olue to the Taker, A curlous case was reported to Jadge Beneke yestcriay - which demonatrates anew the folly of keep- ing any considerable sum of money aboat the house, when the city is full of banka so solldly founded that they will be as slow to sink as the Rock of Ages, For some time past the family of Mr. D. Pbflug has reeided at No, 624 north Fourteenth street, where the mother and daughter carried on the bustness of washing. At this hard work the former had accumulated the sum of $300, and the latter 500, the result being the savings of fifteen years of toll and close economy, and with which they expected to purchase & house and lov and have a homs of their own, Monday the femlly removed to Webater street, between Fourtaenth acd Fifteenth, and In transferring the goods the money, which was kept in & tin box, was put In the wash stand drawer and the drawer locked up. The cash reached the new domicila in eafety, and was last seen at 10 o'clock Jast night 1o the box and the key left fu the drawer, Yosterday upon getting up the box was discovered to be miseing. The doors were bolted on the inside and the windows locked securely, as they were left the night before on retiring, there being no indication whatever ot a visit from burglars; nor, on the other hand, any clue to the treasure box and it contents. What became of the money is & mystery which no one seems to be able to solve and the police have no clue to work from with any prospec: of recovering the lost carrency. The only theory advanced on the subject is that possibly some member of the family in the strangeness of the new surroundings felt a little uneasy about the money and arising in their sleep took the box and put it away 8o safely that in their waking moments they cannot discover it sgatn. It would seem impossible th at any robbers counld have obtained possession of 1t as they could not by sny manner of means have re bolted the doors and locked the windows from the outside, and again as there are but two rooms {in the house, both of which were occuuied by tho family, At all events, it is a warniig e those who have money on hand to de posit It in a bank, and not keop it about the houss exposed elther to burglars or somnambulists, DIED.
