Brown Acquitted of the Oharge ot Perjury, In Justice Vaughan's court yeater- day there were ten or twelve more witneeses examiued in the case of the state Joo Brown, oharged with perjury, as preferred by his brother- in-law, 8. Goldstein, It was claimed that Brown, in justifying a replevin bond for Mrs, Goldstein, his sister, swore that he was worth more than the tacts warranted. The witnessos who testified to the value of the prop- erty which he showed up placed it at a sofficlently high amount so that it appeared that Brown did not over- reach the truth, and he was therefore discharged. Thomas Kssmussen, a Dane, living on section eight, Antelope precinct, came to & horrible death on Friday night, the 12.h inst., by being feoz:n to death. It appears that he hus been somewhat insane for the past two or three days, but was not considered dangerous. But the demon took pos- session of him about mlidnicht of the 12th. He retired to bed as usual with his wife, after which he got up and 1¢fs the house, his wife following him trying to persuade him to retarn to the house. When they got several rods from the house he turned upon her and struck her upon the forehead, koocking her down, and then catch- iog her by the throat tried to choke her, when their dog attasked him, causing him to release his hold and turning with all vengeancs upon the dog, which his wife took advantage of, and ran to the nearest neighbor, Mr. Larames, who gave the alarm and started Homer Barnes to arouse the neighbors, They did not fiad him until about 8 o’clock, gome eighty rods southwest ¢f his house, frozen stiff.
