LN Thoee who had known Mr, William Dolan, the senlor member of the firm of Dolen & Langworthy, of this city, were shocked yosterday at the news of his death, which, though not entirely unexpected, was neverthelers a nad suprise, a8 it was hoped his in- domlitable spirit and strong constita- tlon would enable him to triumph over the diseate which prostrated hfm several wooks ago, Mr, Dolau died about 6 a. m,, ot typhoid pneumonia. The deceased was born February 26, 1838, in the city of Philadelphis, and was covscquently 44 years, 9 months and 16 days old at the time of his death, Heenlisted in the navy at the out- break of the war of the rebellion and served for four years, At the close of the war he re- moved to Lyons, Towa, May 16th 1865, and_engaged in the hardware trade. June 18th, 1866, ho was upited: in marriage to Miss Clara E. The funeral obsequies of the late Clinton Briggs took place at 2 p.m.yesf terday from his residence on Twentieth street. The body was encased in an elegant metallic casket with ailver mountings. His features locked very natural and composed. The casket was covered with beautiful florsl offer- ings from friends of the deceased. The impressive Episcopalic burial service was read by Dean F. R.
