A petty act of cowardly lawlessness was perpetrated Saturday night on Broadway, near the Broad way Metho- dist church. Two children, a son and daughter of Ira Strong, the boy being the eldeat, and he only about eleven years of age, and the sister younger yet, had been to the market to get meat for Sunday, and while on their way home with about half a dollar's worth of beef, they were mot near the Broadway Methodist church, by a man who slapped the boy and then took the meat away from him. The boy describes the fellow quite in detail, and says he thinks he has soon him driving an express wagon around town, and would known if he should see him again. It is to bo hoped that the cowardly raffian will be identified, and is so, there is no doubt but that justice in part at least will be dealt out to him, It was only two weeks ago thata man on his way home with his San- day meat on Saturday night, dropped into a saloon, and getting too much drink was robbed of his Sunday din- ner, his hat and shoes. There seems to be un demand for meat for Bunday, when fellows can be found who will rob dranken men and What We Want.
