The lllinois Central’s Council Bluffs Line will Fight Unless Admitted. The committee appointed by the Towa pool to meet J. N. Tucker, traffic manager of the Illinois Central, and urge him to sbandon the new line to Council Bluffs via Sioux City, per- formed this duty Friday last in Chi- cago, and the result of the conference is thus given by the Tribune: The committee tried bard to eon- vince Mr. Tucker that the continuance of his Counctl Blufls line would raake trouble all around; that there was no good rearon for his forming such a line in connection with the St. Paul and Omaha, and that owing to its great length it could not be called a competing line. Mr. Tucker was also informed that if he continued to com- pete for the Council Bluffs businesa the Iowa pool could get even by strik- ing vital points on the Illinois Central. Mr. Tucker refused to be convinced by the arguments, and stated that he had gone into that business to stay, and that he meant to stay. The lowa lines, he said, for years had been injuring the Iowa line of the Ilii- nos Central by unjust competition, His new line to Council Bluffs was faliy as good as many other lines which had lately beer: formed to points in Jlowa and the northwest. If the Iowa pool lines meant to make war upon the Illinois Central they were at liberty to do so. The Illinois Central had J"’l been slow in going to war, but when it once got mad it would fight as well as anybody else and meant to give blow for blow, This terminated the proceedings. In -tm of the warlike talk it is not prob- able that a fight will ocoar over the matter, and 1t is more probable that before long the roads will come to- gether again and compromise the mat- ter by aamitting the Illinois Oentral lin!limo Council Bluffs into the Iowa pool, - e— Buckhn's arnica Salve, The Best SBALyE in the world for Cuts, Bruises, Sores, Ulcere, balt Rheum, ¥e. ver Sores, Tetter, Chapped Hands, Chil blains, Corns, and all skin eruptions, and positively cures piles, It is guarsnteed to ve satisfactfon @ mioey refunded, rice, 25 conta per cx, dor sale by O, T Goodmsn Softened by Times.
