The complaisant had blood in his eye and was very much excited Upon making the complaint he asked for a warrant for Ford's arcest #wore to the charge preferred. The wareant was accordi sued, bainy (uestiot | cerning tle matter, Shaznon [the following statement: *Taursday my wife attonded a party and social held at the residence of Michael Burd, on Humey street, between Eleventh and Twelfth atreets. She was accompanied by my danghter, a girl abont 12 years old, and my it tle sen. They left Burd’s at 12 o'clock, and started for home. On Tenth street, about twe hundred fe north of the corner of Farnham, 7 were accosted by three wmen, of whom Ford was one. The men ran against them, and then my wife says that Ford grabbed her about the neck and partially threw her down on the walk tryiog 1o drag her into the alley near by. She resisted and the little girl sereamed for help, but no one was around to assist them. The other two on stood off at a little distance, My wifo succeeded in uetting away from her assailant and started to run, when he made a move to catch her a second time, and then one of the other men interfored and held him until my wifé got away, “Mra. Shannon and the children came home and told me about it. 1 went and got my revolvers to shoot the vitlain, but found that neither of them would fire, as they were rusted, and 8o T waited until morning, when my wife prevailed on me to not attempt any violence and muke this complaint instead. My wife has lived here twenty-one years without a wi against her chavacter, and T can't stand such an insult from a man I first put on the police force and wave him his start. STREET COMMISSIONER FORD was seen by a Be timo after the compl the police ceurt, expressed the most decided surprise and consterna tion at the information which the rve porter gave him. He denied in to'o everything connected with the charge made by Shannon, and said: ‘‘Thurs day, between 11 and 12 o'clock, in company with two friends, I left the house to go around the corner to get something to eat. This complaint by Shannon is an unpleasant hoax, for the cause of it is some croation of his crazy mind, and has no foundation in fact. T bave no differences with Barney, except such as arose lust spring during the eloction and 1 don’t cherish any feeling against him, but I expect he don't like me, Mrs. Shannon is a lady 1 very highly re- spect and any one who knows me knows that I wouldn’t insult a dog, much less a woman.
