A Score of Them on ‘Way Homeward, Recalled From Amerioa by Their Government. Their A party of twenty-one Chinese stu- denta, acoompanied by an instructor arrived at the depot yesterday merning from Hartford, Connecticut. The party left Hartford on last Monday, and have had a very pleasant trip thus far. They stopped at Niagara Falls for a day, and they express themselves ns delighted with that wondorful freak of nature. They are all bright, intelligent look ing young men, and aro able to apeak English flusntly. They range in ages from sixteen to twenty-two vears. The instructor, Professor Yunyg, is about forty years old. This party is the first delegation of Chinese stu- dents in Ameyica which has been re- catled home by the Uhinese govern- ment. The reasons for the recall are unknown to the students, but they offer various conjectures upon the wat- ter, one of which is ths Some of the young men wished to ontor the naval school at Aunapolis, Maryland, and o siguified th wishes to their home government. Their request was refused by the government, and it is thought for the reason that Eogland, Germany and TFrance, having offered places in their various naval schools, the Chinese government, not wishiug to discrimi- nate in favor of any one nation, de- cided to reject the offera of all the difforent nations. There ave two more delegations to follow this one. The next one will contain thirty-six students, and they will start soon. After them the third and last will embrace a party of about eighty. ~ They are now scattered throughout he eastern watering Jlacos, As soon as thoycan be assem- led at Hartford thoy will be sent home. The intention and purpose of the Chinese government in sending theso young men to this country i+, that they amay Dbe instructed in the English language, and also to gain a knowledge of American institutions. The dele- gation which passed through to-duy will all be assigued diplomatic posts in this country and Burope upon their arrival home, and then start for their various posts of duty, Tha members of this party have at- tended the diflerent principal seats of education, such as Harvard, Princeton, Auiherst, Colombia, Cor- nell and the Boston technical school. With the exception of the insirue- tor, the students are all dressed in the American style, and wear the lutest style straw hats. Upon their in their own country they will don the uational garb, They have a college or school in Hartford, where, du every long vacation, they are instructed in their native language. Ina conversation with one of the party, Wing O, Tong, he said that he had been wmuch pleased with his sojourn in America, His ad- miration for the nutive American was unbounded, while his opinion of the foreign American was not very high. In answer to the question wlhat he thought of American institutions, he replied that he was much impressed with the system of government. He suid that he preforred the Euglish sys- tem o the one in- uso here; for the reason that it d~es not allow an indis- eriminate immigration of foreigners. They will arrive in Omaha either to- day or to-morrow, Mr. Westerdahl has charge of the matter for Fuir- childs, the gentleman who owns the wagons, and will see that they are at onee put upon the strects, He has um}’, bought & sufliciont number of horses to haul the wagons, and there will be no delay. Buckets of Gore Will Probably be the Resnlt A certain man of town has got himself into a snarl. The gentleman referred to is quite popular wherever known, and while not old is not as young as he used to be some years ago. 1If he has one weakness and like most mortals he has his share—it isan over-wecning re- gard for lovely woman. He is quite a favorite among the sex and his propensity in this respect has got him into trouble. He is one of a number in this city who has the same enthusiasm for a given amount of cause as any of them. Scme time ago it seems he made the acquaintance of an _ attractive married lady and his affections at once became ultra-platoni 0 roomed around in the vicinity of the house, and as the story goes, even invaded the domestic hearthstone, Tt seems the lady herself was by no means oblivious of the attentions heaped upon her and took as kindly to the idea as the gentleman, It so happens that her husband is away a good deal in the evening, but ely the lady has not been obliged to pine for company. Last night her lover was on hand as” usual, and, unfortunately lingered about until an unusual hour. The husband arrived at home ver, unexpectedly whether because his suspicions had been aroused or not is unknown—but he surprised the couple under circumstances which would cause the hairof the average culprit 80 caught to stand on end. There was o lively scufls for a few minutes, then a hasty exit through a window, without the formal- ity of raising the sash, it is said.
