Jesse Seligman and Mr. James Stewart, president of a United States company, had an interview with Seo- retary Windom yesterday morning, relative to the probable sale by the government of $104,000,000 of 4 per cent. bonds for refunding purposes. The secretary stated that it had not been determined to sell these bonds, and he was not prepared to enter into negotistions. No action will be had in regard to the disposition of the bonds referred to until the question whether there is to be an extra sessiou of congress has been decided. SINGULAR: COINCIDENCE. By way of colncidence it is remark- ed that Benjamin Liocoln, the first secretary of war, was appointed in 1781, aud Robert Lincoln was ap- pointed in 1881, just 100 years differ- ‘ence between the dates of appoint- ment.
