Since the first attempt of tobaceo growers to cultivate Havara re d tobrcco in this country, their «foria have pever been c-osncd with such | erfect success as curing the present Fesr. From all the sawd-leaf growing | states, which have culiivated this var- iety of leaf only, the must encourag ing reports are ccming in. In the Connecticut valley the crop, th uzh small in quantuy, is proncuaced uo- rivaled in quoaliy, the texiure and color having never bren surpassed by that of any previous growtn. From New York the growers report excel- lent success with Wilson's bybrid Havara, Ohio snd Wisconsin the Sp nish leaf, the culture of which is now assured, is much su erior to the ordiuery se«d Jeaf grown in those states.
