It will be remembered by those who keep in any degree posted in police court proceedings, that on Friday last Henry J. Abrahams was arrested at the instanca of his partner, Henry Spigle, the Donglas street second- hand dealer, on the charge of obtain- ing by false pretences atout $1,300 On Satarday the suit was dismissed, the costs being divided between the parties. Taesdsy Abrahams, by his next friend, brought sn sction in the ict court ugsinst Spigle in ch he demauds the sum of £5,000 damages. The petition for damages recites the details of the rest, which was, it is averred, falsaly and maliciously prozured for the pur- pose of injuring the plaintifl. That the following day the matter was pub- Lished in the city and throughout the state to the injury of the petitioner to the amount cf $2,500. The proseca- tion failed to substantiste the charge in the courts, by resson cf there being no foundation_therefor, but the pro- ceedings, in additionto the humiliation of arrest and damage to character, in- flicted great mental anxie'y and pain, for which another sum of §2,500 is de- manded, in all the sum of $5,000 be- ing deemed necessary to repair the in- jary done by Spigle to the petitioner by the alleged false and malicious presscation. Hon. John C. Cowin is attorney for Abrahams. ANOTHER STIT. We are informed that s member of the bar of this city, who had some trouble with a fellow counsellor, which resulted somewhat similarly to the case sbove referred to, will bring suit for £10,000 damages.
