M. Waite, the defaulting banker of Brattleboro, Vermont, who was ar- rested in this city » short time ago, of a large amount of fands. The state mert is taken from the Vermont Pheenix of Oct. 8th, which says: Careful enquiry made by Mr. L. M. Price, receiver of the First National bauk, shows that the story told by the deteetivos that Truman Buck, of Oma- la, Neb,, brother-in-law of 8. M. He then visited the three other banks in this city and brings me the en- closed lotters which settle the ques- tion of large deposits of anything in these banks belonging to Mr. Buck. Mr. Buck, in a latter to Mr. Price, 5ays that all the statoments circulated in Omaha about this matter, now known to bo falsc, came from Llew- ellyn, and he submits certain evidence indicating that this man Llewellyn can_hardly be accepted as a very ro. liable sourca of information.
