An officer was sent after her with an express wagon and sho was brought up to town and com- mitted by Judge Hawes to the county jail. This is the eame w. man who was picked up outof the creck near the Gas works and sent to the city jail. She is the mest utterly wretched looking object a human be- ing ever lovked at and reembles rather a half putrid, animated corpse than a living person. She is rotten with disease and her locks and condi- tion beggac descript'on. She was sent over here from Council Bluffs first, and eubsequently returned by our authorities. Now she again puts inan appearance, and is apparently not many hours distant from her grave. The Judge didu’t send her to the city jail because he said she would die in that filthy hele befere night. The sheriff objected to having her in the county jail because he maid that was fu'l, but in reality probably bacause she was such a horrible object to care for. The judge said it was a shame that there was no place to which she could be sentznd b cared for, and soit was. Never wes there a stronger illustration of the need of a city hospital: While the oflicers woro diccussing the question of what disposition should be made of the poor creature, the wretched ob- ject of their unwilling care lay pr in the bed of the cxpress wazon, in the middle of the street. If her orring sisters in this city could have seen her, their hearts must have been chilled by the horribls spectre of a creatura whose counterpart the best of them islikely to become.
