New Yok, August 3, 4 p. m.—Dr. Tanner wasreported this morning very weak, but in better condition than expected. Heisso far gone, however, 88 to bs completely exhausted after any exertion. It is thought he has been drinking too much water of late, but the fierce thirst that consumes him calls imperlously for instant faction. Not being able to drink suf- ficient water for his nexds he sponges his face apd wraps wet towels around his hesd hoping thus to ab-o'b asaall amount of moisture.
