Their factories in Cieveland, Tuledo, etc., turn them cut, 1l iron-bound, and blue painted, at o cost of §1.35 per barrel. OF course, machinery has to do the work; which could not kave been dome in the days of the cld baud labor coop- erages One machine alone takes a barrel and fits it with iron hoops at the rate of 1,200 day. To attend to these hooping machines it takes a man and two buys for each, to properly dispose of the barrels as fast as the machine *‘hoops them up.” Then the painting is done by machinery. 1f the paper barrels can be furnish- ed at the ra‘e of $1.30 each, the eav- ing to the oil company will be $9,000 a week, not counting Sundays. — Sitting Bull's War Bonnet. other side of the Canadian line, but is *‘wsr bonnet” is now in this city, in the possessicn of Mr. &. The Egyptians exhibit great skill in their mauner of cultivatiog the bee. As the flowers and hervest are much eaclier in upper Egypt than in lower, the iobabitants profit by the circum- stances in regard to their bees. They collect the hives of different vllhgu 1arga barges, and every proprietor at- taches a particular mark to bis hives. When the boat is loaded the conduc- tors desc:nd theriver slowly, stopping at all places whera they can find pas- tursge for the bees. Aftor having thus spent three months on the Nile the hives are returned to their pro- ors, and, after deducting a small sum due to the boatman for having transported his hives from one end of the river to the other,’be finds him- self suddenly enriched with a_quanti- ty of honey and wax, which ls i mme ely sent to market. This ?pecic of industry procures for the Egyp‘.r ans an abundance of production for the bee, which they export in_ large quantities to foreign lande. In the counties of Yorkshire and Lancashire, England, when the moors are covered with a species of heather called ling, and which blossoms in Auguat, cov- ering these harren heath with a beau- ty scarcoly equaled in any other coun- try, distant beo-kecpers load the hives into wagous, and having previ. ngaged quarters for them with the farmers who dwell on the confines of the moor, tha hives are conveyed to their ranges, whers they romain a month or six weeks. Comparatively emp'y hives when carried away aro brought back full of hovey, and many weak hives are thus enabled to wintsr over without loss, wh'le the hest on & bave larze quant'tis fFoncyand wix removed from t.em, thy propuct «f about iwo monttsin thyyesr. Once a sheep is fly blown seeks a lonely place, and will hide ia a fenoe corner and remain out of sight until dark. The sun’s heat and the want of either abundaut or good water frequently brings ou diarrhes, which increases the danger from the fiy, and also weakens the sheep. Dys- entary follows neglected diarrhea, and carries cf the sickened aimals very rapidly. There aro many reasons why at this time a flock should be visited frequently, and counted each time, for certainty that all ate_in good con- dition. If one is missed it should be at once soughr, and brought homa for rreatment with care. One of the groatest pests at this eeagon is ticks. These leave the shorn sheep and gather on the lambs. The young animals are worried and weak- cned by these parasites, and are some- times killed by them. It is now easy to rid the flock of them. The pest may be dexoyed by dippiog the lambs in a decoction of tobaoco and ulphu-, one holf pound of tobacco 2d’in five gallons of hot water, and the adiition of eight ounces of fiswers of sulphur, well sticred in, make an cffective dip. It should be used ata temperatare of 112 degrees, and should be kept at that heat by the addition of fresh hot liquid, not water. The lambs only requira dipping, and a half-tub large enough to immerso the Ismb while held by its head, and its head kept out of the bath, is the best vehicle for applying the dip. 1f you sre troubled with fever and ague, dumb azue, bill ous fever, jaundice, dys.epsia, ur digease of the ,iver, blood or stomac! togct well, try the new r.medy, Teoh ol French Live Pad.
