The managers and general passen- ger agents of the western railroads terminal in Chicago held a meeting in that city on Tuesday. The proposi- tion to change the arriving time of western trains and the question of the maintenance of pasienger rates be tween Chicago and points in the south- west were matters for the considera- tion of which the meeting had been especially called. The proposition to change the time of the arrival in Chicago of trains from the west, was agreed upon with- out much discussion. The change sgreed upon applies only to the through trains from Kansas City and Omaha, which arrive in Chicago in the afternoon. The arrivi for the different trains will - probably be as follows: Chjoago and North- western, 2:15 p. m.; Chicago, Bur- lington and Quincy, 2:15; Chicage, Rock Island and Pacific, 2:30; Chica- goand Alton, 2:30; Illincis Central, 2:45. Each line reeerves the right, howaver, to lengthen the time, if nec- essary, but the arriving hour cannot, under the present understanding, be earlier than 2 o'clock, and the sched ule via all roads will be such as will enable through pastengers to take the esat-bound fast _express train here at 3:30. Tho Chicago, Milwaukee and St. Paul will not chavgo its arriving o itey schedule would work af ircunvenience to the Milwaukeo travel, and, as the 5:15 trains will bo continued as here- tofore on all the eastern routes, pas- sengors arriving too late for the fast express wilk suffer only a brief deten- tion. Two of the western roads—the Ohicago and Northwestern and the Chicago and Alton—announced to the ‘meeting their intention to change time on next Sundsy. The Rock Island and the Burlington will probably have their new schedules in readiness by that date, but they could not mako posifive anvouncement £o that effect.
