City Eoginecr Rower has been ordered by the city council to stake out the full width of Farnham street. A larga quantity of lumber and baild- ing material will bs removed and a temporary building or two now stand- ing within the street limits will be set back. It is the intention to make Farnbam street at this point a full thoroughfare. The **blockede train” of freight cara, kept standing in this vicinity for emer- gancies—should the B. & M. crossing fight be rcopened—bas a part of the time been allowed to stand partly on the ferry approach at the cable mast. This will probably mot be allowed hereafter. It bas been reported that that the goverumentripraps had been tampered with in order to eff.ct a graduated landing at low water. An examina- tion showed that the river had made in-roads into the bank under the mass of rock and willow of which the work is composed, and as can be read- ily seen, some of the rock had fal'en away to il the cavity thus produced aud the settliog down of the outward ends of the willows show plainly that no human hands had any- thing to do with making the break in the outline of the bank. This break was utilized soas to give the ferry a landicgin a street running parallell to the river, b:low the line of Farnham street, while a landing directly in Farnhsm s'reet would have been pre- ferred had not such & breskin the 'p-rap been found beforehand. Pacrric Juxcrios, In, May 24— This town, as eome of our readers well know, is situsted twenty miles south cf Council Bluffs, at the cross- ing of two railroads. Iam surprised to learn the prospects of the town. It is well known that the C., B. & Q. has lately purchased what was the Kaneas City, St. Joe and Council Bluffs ralroad, and the two great lines croes at this point. At Pacific Junction, then, they now have con- nections with all points east direct, by the C., B. & Q. railroad; with all points eouth (Atchison, Kansss City, St. Joe, etc.), by the new road; with poiats in Nebraska, by the B. & M., which s to come straight into l’-elfi: Junction, over the new iron bridge, which is being erected acroas the river at Plattsmouth; and north, with Council Bluffs, and from tnat city to all points north, north- west and northeast. Thera‘lroad com- pany has purchased 480 acres of land ng tke present town sits on the ; and I Jearn from reliable rces that they are to there locate stock yards on alargescale. It isalso rumored that at this point the railroad ccmpany s to erect round houses and machine shops, making it a division station of their road, as well as a junc- tion. This would maks the town sec- ond to none in th's vicinity, as besides its railroad advantages it is surrounded by rich bottom land, and a ne produc ing country. Mr. A. B. Smith, state surveyor of Nebrasks, is re-staking the town. The streets are to be graded, and trees will probably be planted along_the principal avenues. It all lookslike busiess. J. Kline, proprietor of the Kline house, is one of the enterprising busi- ness men of the place.
