At the foot of the shaft the vein of coai is thirteen inctes thick. coal was taken from the drift twenty feet from the foot of the thaft, where the vsin is sixleen inches thick, above which is four feet of biue soale or fire clsy, which constitutes (he roof. Prominent gentlemen from all parts of the State aally visit the office, 263 Faraham street,and the consequence is that the county rights in Nebras- ka are bolng sold very rapidly. ln addition to the sales already made, nine counties, among which are Dodge, Washington and Buit, have been sold to E. B. Batler, treasurer of Stanton county, and C. L. Lamb, clerk of the same county. These two gentlemen a short time ago bought three coun ties, and being convineced of the wmerits of the sone returned and purchased three more countles. ‘The Novelty artificial stone is desfined to come into general use for building material.
