Banckes as a candidate for election to the City Couuncil. The editor of that paper knows that the man Banckes is unfit for the City Council, Jr any other responsible Position. If this is not true, then let hix enquire of the leading, in- teliigent aud responsible Germaus of this city fof the truth as regards his fitness, If then he is not fully satisfied, let him go to the Willow Springs Distillery, in this city, and examine the record books aud re- ports on fil2 n the U. B. storekeep er's office, made by this man Banckes during the six months he disgraced that office with his incom- petency, aud compare the said rec- ords and reports with the amended ones, also on file, made by H. k. If this fails to convince Mr. Brooks then his case in hopeless, asis the case with his local, I. W. B, Smitb, U. 8. Connmissioner, on the 15th day of Fevruary, 1877, on complaint of J. B.
