That the State Fair, which oegins next Tuesday, and ends on the fol- lowing Friday, will be a most bril- liant success, we have not the least doubt. Major D. H. Wheeler, of Plattsmouth, the secretary of the assistant, Mr. J. B. Simpson, are now in the city, and are mak- ing ther headquarters at the office of Martin Dunham, 258 Farnham street. They inform us that the prospects for the coming fair indicate that it will eclipse all its predecessors in every re- spect. Already over ome hun- dred entries have been made in the different departments. All entries should be made at their office. They have received innumerable applications from persons for the privilege of running all sorts of games of chance, cateh-penny af- fairs, wheels of fortune, etc., but Dave refused them all. They have granted about twenty permits for refreshment stands, and have before them a large number of applications for all sorts of side- shows. As yot no programme has been been arranged for each day. but it is safe to say that the Fair will pos- sess new attractions every day that it continues. Wednesday and Thurs- day, however, will be the most at- tractive days. There will be first- class Taces or “trials of speed” as some very partlcular people call them, every afternoon.
