Hawley, of Chicago, Special Mail Agent, arrived here yesterday accompanied by his daughter, and took quarters at the Grand Central Hotel. Mr. Hawley was met on the other side of the river by Mr. Paul Vanderwort, chief clerk of the Union Pacific railway mail seivice, and on the transfer train by Mr. Furay, who accompa- nied him to his hotel. Every effort is being made by Mr. Bye, who preferred the charges, to havea fair, square and open investigation. Mrs, Hoffman received eleven small cuts on the head.
