Patsy O'Neill, a female inmate of the same, was also fined a like amount. —A certain Henry Smith, while intoxicated, stole a couple of blan- kets Fridaynight from a man named Larson, in South Omaha. He was arrested by Policeman Larson, and brought before Judge Peabody this morning. He was fined $5.00 costs upon his restoring the blankets to the owner. —By our telegrams it will bescen that Ben. Hogan is no more. He died Saturday, from the effects of arevolver shot, reccived while attempting to prevent a woman from shooting another man. He had many friends in this city, where he trained for two weeks previous to his fight with Tom Allen at Towa City. —Stein, the merchant tailor, was the victim of an unpleasant snrpriw party about 8 o’clock Fri ing. A piece of iron, three feetand a half long, and about three quar- ters of an inch in diameter, pene- trated the east side of the building, going through to the inside and projecting two or three inches, knocking off the plastering, and causing considerable excitement in that tailor shop. The iron was pulled through, and was found to be crooked like a cane on one end. On the outside of the building a hole, milar to one produced by a large bullet, was found. How this missile was ever sent with such force, or who threw it, is a mystery. It is thought that some man must have hurled it from some neighbor- ing building, or that the wind blew it from some roof. —“A Daughter of Bohe tian Reid, author of “V: aleri mer,” “Morton House,” “Nina's Atonement,” and other works. When Jack | shuffled off his mortal coil, this sparrow hopped down from his ele- vated position, and mournfully look- | ed him in the fage to ascertain if he was really dead. He is Jonely since Jack died. The funeral took place at five o’clock yesterday af- | ternoon, and was largely attended by the feathered tribe, who ocou- | pied a long line of baby buggies.
