COLLEGH Many friends of Connmecticut college in this city and Middletown were pres- ent at the formal opening of Vinal cot- tage dormitory at the college which ok place Saturday afternoom. the two hundred guests who attended were Mrs. C. G. R. Vinal of Mifidietown, whose generous gift made the dormitory possibe ; President Benjamin T. Marshall jand Miss Elizabeth Do Bois Bache, A. M., assistant professor of heme ecom- omics at the college, #ho is 10 to be house fellow next year. During the early afternoon the visi- tors were escorted through the bufld- ing by the students, after which & buf- fet lunch was served in the spacious dining hall over-looking the river. The menu was prepared by the college girl majoring in home economics. Vinal House is patterned after the typical English suburban home. The main reception room on the first floor is supplemented by a smaller room, suited to the same purposes: and lead- ing directly oft of the larger room i & dining hall, with a spaclous kitchen ad- joining. In architecture the dormitory follows the Tudor lines, _showing ihe peaked roof and the arched deorways of that period. The casement’ windows are particularly characteristic. A feature of the reception reom is a large gramiie and brick fireplace, which together ®ith the old English mahogany furniture gives the room a distinctly English atmos- phere. The color scheme carried oat i deep uphoistered divans and chairs, and in the old Oriental rugs as well as the printed linens on the stanGs and tables is old biue and dull silv The bed- rooms are mostiy single and afford sleeping quarters for 14 dents. The woodwork throughout the b is statn ed dark brown and the floors are all hard wood. The location of the dormitory is idleal It is on the east xide of Mohegan & enve, half way between Deshon strest and Reservoir street, and adjoins the tractive property of E. Clinton ter on the nmorth. It is made of stucco, tinted dull yellow, and stands four atories in the rear and three in the front. | Brery casement window overlooking the river frgmes a picture that would make agy arfist sigh for his brushes and palette. —— SUPERIOR COUET DOCKET HAS 38 CASES NO A mew docket for the superior comst issued by Judgee George E.
