I — — > NORWICH BULLETIN, SATURDAY, DANIELSON A special effort is being made to get u-u a large attendance for the meeting: the chamber of commerce echeduled to ve held Tuesday evening next'at the cen- ral fire station. One of the principal t will receive attention is the matter of half-holidays for the summer seasonm Other matters of importance al- %0 are to come up for discussion and the iesire of the officers is to get out as large an attendance as possible, Today (Saturday) -is Bundle day and from 10 a. m. to 5 p. m,, there will be persons at the town hall to receive such garments as a generous public is willing 1o give for the comfort of sufferers in the Near East Especially are garments re- quired for children. Hundreds of chil- dren of the Near East are having their health and futures permanently ruined because of the privations they undergo for lack of proper clothing. Garments, too, are needed for adults. Do it now!" is the slogan for those whe have garments to spart and give. Sunday will be observed in dif- ferent parts of Windham county as young men’s day and particular effort will be made to interest all in the move- ment now under way. It has beem noted that only one veéteran of the Civil war was in the Memorial day procession at Dayville—Jabez Row- en—of Danielson, who for years was a resident in the nearby place. The fact that only veteran participated where formerly many were in line was & cause of sadness to older residents of the vil- lage. At the c.gn‘-u...l chureh in Day- ville Sunday Rev. William Swainson, the pastor will preach a sermon pertaining to Disarmament—the day being observed in hundreds of churches t'joughout the country as Disarmament Sunday and in connection with a movement to help re- lieve the dangers of further wars by re- ducing the mears of making war. Some gardeners, discouraged by the first and other st backs of last month, are now practically disheartened because the torrent that fell in this vieinity in last Sunday's long drawn out thunder storm has washed out seeds and even growing plants. Killingly, where an impertant beamch of the largest kennel of its kind in the country is located, is developing a fad for police dogs. Scores of them are now owned in this surrounding _territory. The police dogs are powerfully built, wolf-like animal and of a type that many persons have taken a fancy to. Many of them are to be found on farms in the eastern part of the tawn and not a few in villages of Killingly. Practieally all are thoroughbred animals and some of them are very valuable.
