New York, May 11.—Benny Kauff, suspended outflelder of the New York | Giants today denied the charge of auto-! mobile theft on which he is being tried. The indictment charges Kauff and two accomplices with theft of an autome- bile owned by Thomas Brennan of Bronxville. The etolen automoblle was sold to Ig- natz Engel, a stock broker and later recovered by the police. Engel testified that Kauff returned the purchase money to him when it was learncd that the car had been stolen. Kauff admitted having learned that the automobile sold to Engel was not the car which ha had ordered Frank Hone and an employe {o purchase.
