A particular case of this kind was that of & young man Who was sent abroad by a wealthy gentleman, Who belleved hix protege could become a fine ginger, gnd was willing to spend any amount of mon- ey to bring about that result. The young man studied with several of the emi- nent teachers of Europe for nearly six years, jand at the end of that time was almost in despair when he considered how little he really had accomplighed. Benjamin M. Knox, who had bad eon- sideruble experience in teaching voice culture in the United States, met this young man in London and heard him sing. Mr. Knox recoguized immediately that his metbod was -fundamentally wrong, and made one or two suggestions 2s to how certain things should be dene.
