' NORWICH BULLETIN, SATURDAY, Preference for Buick Valve-in-Head motor cars becomes more pronounced each season — and this favoritism shown by the motor car purchaser of today has taxed the Buick factory’s production to the limit. Thousands are contented to await their turn in Buick deliveries—for Buick performance, quality, service and economy has completely won their confidence. The five hundred thousand Buick cars now in daily operation are making Buick history. Their efficiency, faith- fulness and value have established this fact in the minds of the world—*there is no substitute” for Buick Valve-in- Head quality and service. HENDRIX SUED BY ACTRESS ON WEDDING EVE There was Norwich interest Friday in the following story in New York papers, since Clifford Rathbone Hendrix is the only child of the late Mary Alics Rath- bone Hendrix. The young man's parents were married at the Rathbone homastead at East Great Plain by the late Rev. Dr. Bdward Griffin Selden, a native of Nor- wich, then pastor at Springfield, Mass. Clifford R. Hendrix, a wealthy mem- ber of the New York Stock Exchange, Who is to be married tonight to Miss Iu- genie M. Terry, daughter of Major John M. Terry of 300 Central Park West, was sued in the supreme court yesterday for $100,000 damages for alleged breach of promise by Maud L. Coballos, an act- ress, better known under her stage name of Mona Desmond. She was called the “Dresden China Girl” when she was a ‘Weber & Fields, celebrity. The summons in the case was filed some days ago after it had been served on Mr. Hendrix at 20 Wall street, but the plaintiffs attorneys declined to dis- cuss the action then. On the eve of Mr. Hendrix's wedding they make known the allegations in the case. Miss Ceballos alleges that Mr. Hendrix promised, on Aug. 10 last at Larchmont, to marry her. She gave up her thea- trical career in reliance on his promises, she said, and has since been “supported Wwholly or in great measure by him.” She said he asked her aid in selecting a site for a home on Qualer Ridge, Larchmont, and is now building a reidence there to cost §125,000. She says he told her on Feb. 29 last that he wouldn't carry out his plan to marry her. Mr. Hendrix, who lives at 14 East Fif- ty-sixth street, declined last night to dis- cuss the charges against him, but con- cerning his marriage he sai “My marriage tonight will be held as|g originally planned. This suit is like many others that are brought prior to a man’s marriage, which-are usually si- lenced by a settlement. I could have set- tled this case, but I declined to do so. Miss Terry has known of it all along, “and it is with her full knowledge and ap- proval that I have refused to settle.” Mr. Hendrix said that the details of the wedding had not been entirely fixed, spondent in the suit of Edna May for a divorce from Fred Titus, bicycle rider, in 1904. She was married later to J. Reed Fuller, son of a Chicago steel manufac- turer. He disappeared soon after the marriage. She has not been prominent on the stage in recent years. THOS. J.
