s EAGLES g On Sunday afternoon Norwich Aerie of Eagles held a .very successful,in- itiation in Kagles Hall at which a class of 30 candidates were. put through and ‘12 applications were re- ceived. Present at the initiation were various officers of the State Aerie in- ¢luding, President Samuel Stevens of Danbury, Vice President ' Willlam Powell of Norwalk, Past - President, James Tevlin of New York, Chaplain Martin Johnson of Hartford, Secre- tary Jchn McLoughlin of New Haven and Grand Chaplain Thomas Aheran of New Haven. In an address that followed the initiation Past Presi- dent James Tevlin, a member of the organization department told the local aerie shat there had been a in in membership of 5000 since the first of the year and that all aeries through- out the state had showed .gratifying gains. Foliowing the meeting a so- cial session was enjoyed with music by a special Bagle orchestra. EASTERN STAR Sachem Chapter, No. 57, 0. E. 8. held their regular meeting in the Triple Link Hall on Main street with a large number in attendance. Fol- Jowing the transaction of routine bus- fness the degrees of the order were conferred on a class of candidates. An invitatiop from Fiddlity Chapter of New London to attend a meeting of that chapter on riday evening March 19, The invitation was ae- cepted and it is expected that a large number from Sachem chapter will at- tend.
