It was the second time Hagen has| won the championship as he led the field in the same event, in Chicago, in 1914. Hagen shot the 18 holes in 77. The defeat was a bitter disappoin ment to Brady he lost the title in 1911 at Wheaton, lils, in a_ three cornered play-off, to Jack McDer- mott and finished third to McDermott at Buffalo in 1912, Brady _thought that this year the title would be his, especially by the end of the Gith hole of play vesterday, he led Hagen, who was in second position, by fiv strokes.
