Tay- lor, one of the commiitee, gave a very interesting report sayving at the start that the building committee were un- animous in the opinion that the pres- ent site of the school building was not at all suitable for a new schoolhouse and by all means for the town to ob- tain tives” ; and in 15 days, the pain wag easier and the Rheumatism wag better. Gradually, “Fruit-a-tives” overcame my Rheumatism; and now, for five years, I have had no return of the trouble. Also, I had severe Brockton Sample te. That there were four} or five available sites in Windham Center as follows: The Lockeman lot, the Weir lot, the Maine lot and the Larrabee lot. The first two mention- ed were desirable and the committee favored the Lockman lot. Mr. Taylor in the report gave much detailed in- formation in regard to the plans and costs of the proposed new schoolhouse as to the various forms of construc- tion of fireproof features. He finish- ed the report by saying that the com- mittee had found after carefully con- sidering the matter of a new site and plans for a school building such as in their opinion should be built, that at least an additional sum of $12,000, plus the original $2,000 already appropriat- ed would be required to cover the cost of the project and that the committee recommends naming the increase ap- propriation be the sum of $15,000. The report aws accepted and so voted by the meeting. Mr. Yeomans, speaking in_behalt of Mr. Lockman, at this point arose to say that the latter did not want the schoolhouse on his prop- erty: it had been in the family name for over 200 years; that he had view other uses for the land w! would be of more value to the re: dents of Windham Center than if used | for a schoolbuilding site and he would oppose its being placed there by lery means in his power. On strength of this information W. King offered a motion that the pres: ent site of the schoolhouse be changed | and it was so voted Ly a risin gvote of 26 for and 2 against.
