Each team had a large following of admir- ers who had come to Willimantic in automobiles, there being over fifty cars standing outside the armory during the evening. The hall was packed at the beginning of play and many were standing around the inclosure when the preliminary game between _the Bear Cats of Taftville and the Ashlind Seconds was started, The final whiste in the preliminar: match was the signal for the appear ance of the big teams and the ap- {plause was deafening as they came on ithe floor. There was a delay of about {a half hour in getting the game start- led, owing to Manager Benoit disputing |the right of Manager Horton to play Barlow. Benoit claimed he was a “ringer” from Milford and Horton de mied it.
