Eugene B. Pendle- | ton was moderator and BEverett L. Whipple was clerk. For the first time the freemen secured the reports in pamphlet form previous | to_the meeting. | The taxpayers voted several | customary appropriations which total- ed $174500, and two other appropria- jons were made, one for §1,000 to car- ry out the program arranged for the 250th anniversary of the town to be f held next May and $1,200 or so much as may be necessary to purchase an| automobile for the police department | to be used as a patrol car and am- bulance. This brought the total ap- propriations for the meeting up to $176,700. This amount included the | sum of $2,000 to be used in welcoming home the soldiers and Westerly. To aneet the appropriations it was | necessary to raise the tax two mil or 20 cents on each $100 t able real and tangible personal prop- | erty in the town.
