What Is Going On Tonight Moving mw:_n: the Auditorium nfi‘c‘vfi:‘ Plctures at the Breed Thea- Moving Pictures st the Davis Thea- tr ."m of Mooseheart Legion. No. A, 0. H., 124, meet at Moose Home. BBt e N emurial uckingham : 9“"?-1.-::% Enux:nme:l. No. 3, L 0. O. ¥ meets in Odd Fellows' Hall. ‘Becond Division, A. C. H., meets in Foresters’ Hall ANNOUNCEMENTS At the Auditorium. Mutt and Jeff in the Wooly West are at the Auditorium theatre mati- nee and night today. No comic car- toons of recent times have made such a hit with the public as the creations of Bud Fischer's Mutt and Jeff. And for that matter their popularity is not confined to this country alone. The long and short of it as they are fa- miliarly called and are known all cver the world even in these sections of the globe, where English is not spoken. As stage personages, the pair seem to stand in a class by them- selves. This is chiefly due to the fact that their peculiar makenp and char- acteristics lend themselves to all sorts of possibilities behind the footlights. This has been proved for many sea- sons, or ever since Manager Gus Hill kad the keen foresight and perception to incorporate their exploits and ad- ventures into play form. As real comedians, the twain prob- ably have no equals. Their very name seems to be the signal for un- controllable mirth as testified not so long ago when a certain prominent statesman was asked who was his fa- vorite actor. He promptly responded Jttle Jeff. T think he's the funni®s fellow ever.” Theatre-goers and newspaper readers have come to re- zard these two individuals as intimate friends. And the chanceg are that if Mutt and Jeff were to shuffie off tifs martal coil for good, or disappear in- to temporary oblivion they would be sadly missed. At the Auditorium. Mrs. Wiggs of the Cabbage Patch i coming to town. T everlastin success, now its fifteenth season, will be the attraction at the Auditor- fum theatre for two days, starting Friday matinee, Sept. 13t For those who have not read either or both of the well-known books—Mrs. Wigss and Lovey Mary, from which the play s taken, let ,it be known that Mrs. Wiggs is an, optimist, and throughout the play she makee her hearers laugh aocquiescence. Her husband, Mr. Wiges, disappeared vears ago and left her to provide for his numerous pro- geny by washing and the like, but she is perfectly confident that one day he will turn up. In the meanwhile she prepares the elderly ‘Miss Hazy for her weddinz to Mr. Stubbins, the widower of Bagdad Junction. All the Cabbage Patch rociety is present at this function, which all who h the good fortune, to see it. a be the funniest scene ever written in the history of the stage. Mrs. Schultz, the neighborhood censor, and Mrs. Eichorn,” called a cross-patch, disapprove of the strange girl, Lovey Mary, that Billy Wiggs brings to the liouse with a three-vear-old boy. But Mrs. Wiggs s no questions and takes both to her heart. Only later doeg she find that the child is that of her own erring husband by another woman and at Lovey Mary fled with from an orphan vium. The Btubbins-Hazy weddinz turng out ill and Mr. Stubbins, who professes to be a hero of the war, takes drink be- canse his wife can't cook, and Mrs, Wiggs hits upon the plan of putting him in a freight car, drunk as he is; accompanied by two pies. wut like another Ylyeses, he returns weeks la- ter to a Penelope that hag since he- come enriched by $300 of back pension sent to her hero husband. Mr, Wiggs algo returns and mends his ways, and Mrs. Wiggs accepts him in a scene that makes the te come. Rilly is engaged to Lovey Mary and all ends happily. Davis Theatre. For the last half of this week there will be a big bill of Keith vaudeville and feature pictures. The big attrac- tion is Elliott's Leaping Hounds, a gensational noveity canine act with wonderful electrical effects. The sec- ond act is Hank Brown and company in their latest comedy offering, “Just Laughs, That's AlL" The third act 1s Scott and Kane, a clever team of entertainers who present one of the most enjoyable ski ever presented here. All three acts are in Class 1A in the vaudeville line and no one can afford to miss seeing them. The fea- ture photoplay is Aima Rubens in the latest five-part Triangle drama, The Painted Lily. Alma Rubens is seen to good advantage in the Leroine role of this feature. Her beauty and charm go far toward reconciling cer- tain improbable incidents in the melo- drama, as for instance, the success- {2l eubstitution of Mary for Jean- nette, as the old lady’s daughter. The Cture is well directed and presents variety of sensational incidents which are smoothly welded, with the result that the action travels at top speed throughout the entire five reels, current Events wi the very latest news completes the sho Breed Theatre. The brilliant comedy drama, A Pair of Cupids, is the feature attraction at the Breed theatre today in wheih the popular screen stars, Francis X. Bush. man and Beverly Bayne will be seen at their best. This clever story was written especially for these two clever stars by Luther Reed and the cast contalns such noted players as Charles Sutton, Jessie Stevens, Gerald Grif- fin. Lou Gorey, Mrs. Turner, Thomas Blake and Louis Wolheim. The pic- ture is one that will draw both sym- ,lflr?' and humor and is a delightful evening’s entertainment. Pearl White also seen in The House of Hate and Chester Conklin iz Smothered Love, a new Mack Sen- ngtt comedy and the Burton Holmes travel seriés make up the remainder of the show. ne Re: ence Property Changes Hands, James L.
