¥ . |year he has endeavored to excel all PARTLY CLOUDY TODAY; PROBABLY SHOWERS AT NIGHT NORWICH. CONN., SATURDAY, MAY 25, 1918, . What Is Going On Tonight' Pilctures at the Auditorium dtoving ANNOUNCEMENTS Sig Sautelle’s Circus Monday. The coming of Sig Sautelle's big overiand circus to this city on Mon- day, May 27, will be one of the events as Sig. Sautelle’s name every part of New Eng- he has been catering of this part toffl the country, always giving a meritorious performance that pleases the old folks and brings joy to the children. This Pictures at the Breed Thea- 3 efforts and has put together {a performance that is not only inter- jesting but embraces many novelties Dot usually seen under a circus can- vas. One of the many new features will be Helliott’s Bears, a novelty comedy act performed by five highly trained bears, and as they are han- died by Lady it makes their perform- all the more remarkable. They ride a bicycle, tumble, wrestle and dance with the lady, on an open stage, not in a steel arena as animal acts are usually shown, which illustrates the complete control the lady has over the animals. Then there is Madame Irwin, with her troupe of 20 trained dogs that give an exhibition, showing the lous intelligence which these lmlmfl.l possess. These are only two of the many features in a per- formanes which is composed of 15 separate and distinct feature acts in addition to the funny clowns, and that funniest of a]l funny acts, the un- rideable mule. There is aiso a mu- seum or side show attached in which are to be seen a troupe of genuine Georgia minstrels, the greatest lady sword swallower ever seen in this country, several cages of wild animals together with numerous living curics- ities. There will be no street parade, as this show travels on its own mo- tor trucks, consequently does not car- ry any horses excepting the ring stock. The price of admission is 3¢ cents which includes the war tax, and by special arrangement with the to- bacco fund ten per cent. of the re- celpts of each performance gzoes to tnat worthy fund. BREED THEATRE Four Shows Today—1.30, 3, 6.15 and 8.15—Florence Reed in a Picturiza- tion of the Famous Stage Success, Today, Feature. A picturization of the phenomenal stage success, Today, Wwith the orisi- nal star, Florence Reed, is the fea- ture attraction at the Breed theatre today. This powerful society drama is presented in an elaborate manner by an all-star cast, which includes in addition fo the star, Frank Mills, Alice Gale and Gus Weinberz. The produc- tion ie one of the finest ‘of the years production. Charlie Chaplin is also ®een in a roaring two-part comedy en- titled His New Job, and the Hearst Pathe News completes the bill. Toda: there will be four shows at 130, 3 515 and 8.15. § MENAGERIE 1S FEATURE Of Hagenbeck-Wallace Circus—Per- formance Composed of Over 400 Artists. One of the things in which the Ha- genbeck-Wallace Circus has alway excelled s in its menagerie. Hagen- beck was the first person who ever succeeded in breaking and subduing wild animals for a public perform- ance. He startled the capitals of E rope half a century azo with his in- ielligent, yet man-eating beasts. At each world's fair that has been held in the United States in the past forty years the Hagenbeck wild 1nimals have always furnished the stellar at- traction. So much interest was aroused at the St. Louis World's Fair in 1304 that the Hagenbeck shows were combined with the great Wallace Circus. At first the ‘dea looked impossible, because of thelr size. FEach show had already reached a state that it required the efforts of only the most skilled circus officials to handle. The greatest prob- lem was the onc involved in the iransportation. A train, one mile in length, was built and divided into three sections. In this way the ob- stacle of moving the great institution from city to city was solved. Yet, each vear since the consolida- tion of the shows the Hazenbeck- Wallace Circus has grown. The Ha- zenbeck farm, in French Lick Springs, Indiana, is the world's bigzest animal Leadquarters. As fast as rare and costly specimens are captured by the Hagenbeck hunters, scattered throughout the world. they are sent to_the Hagenbeck-Wallace Circus. But the Hagenbeck animals form only one department of the combined shows. The Great Wallace Circus still excels as the “highest class circus in world.* The performance is given in three rinze and two elevated stages. More than 400 noted artists that rep- resent almost every country on the globe will be sent with the Hagen- beck-Wallace Circus in Norwich on ‘Tuesday, May 2 A man comd learn a great many things If he didn't imagine that he wlready knew them Power Piping, Heating and Ventilating Mill Repair Work Promptly Attended to OFFICE, ROOM 112, THAYER BLDG.
