MORE DIPHTHERIA REPORTED IN NEW LONDON Schools in That City May Not Open ©On Schedule Time. Two new casesof diphtheria in New London werq reported to the health depavtment Friday and both were quarantined at their homes. Health Officer E. (. Chipman ex- pressed the hope that the _ public sehools would not open as scheduled on next Wednesday. He feels that he can control the situation better if the schoals ars closed as iz is easier to keep track of the cases for precaution- ary purpeses and prevent contaet be- tween the children who may possibly be carriers and not as yet discovered. He has issued no order to keep the schools closed and such an order will depend on circumstances and devel: opments within the next few days. The health officd} declared that the epidemic in that city had no connec- tion with the development of several cases of the disease among recruits en route from the mouth to Fort Wright about a month ago.
