Druggists Bout—Leonard Outfights Delmont From Start to Finish, refund money if it fails. 25¢ | —A Left to the Stomach Puts Southerner Out for the| torrisn — St. Paul, Minn, Dec. 5.—Benny Leon- ord, lightweight champion, knocked out Gene Delmont of Memphis in the eighth round of a scheduled ten round bout here tonight. A left to the stomach was the de- ciding blow, although Leonard, appar- ently outweighing the southerner, had the better of the battle right from the start. A eft to the stomach was the recid- ing blow, although Leonard, apparent- 1y outweighing the southermer, had the better of the battel right from the start. After chopping Delmont for seven rounds the champion finally backed him into a corner and put over the punch that ended the bout. It was said to be the first time Del- mont has been knocked out. KRAMER FORCED TO WITHDRAW FROM RACE Field Narrows to Twelve Teams, Nine Having Covered 1,301 Miles. New York, Dec. ‘With the field of competitors in the six day bicycle race at Madison Square Garden reduced to twelve teams, nine of them had cov- ered 1,301 miles and one lap at mid- night and the other three were three laps behind. The record for 72 hours is 1,468 miles and 7 laps, made by Goulett and .Grenda in 1914. Barly in the day Frank Kramer, the veteran sprinter, was forced to retire from the contest, being unable to over- come the handicap of a badly swollen knee, and leaving Egg without a team- mate. Two hours later Bello decid- ed to quit his partner, Madonza, team- ed up with Egg, the pair being one lap behind the leaders. BATTLE FOR LIGHTWEIGHT TITLE TOyBE STAGED in New Haven Between Benny Leon- ard and Chi Brown. Chic Brown of New Haven, cham- pion lightweight of New England, is to be given the opportunity of his life time on the night of Dec. 17th when he meets World’s Champion Benny Leonard of New York in a 10-round bout at the New Haven na. The bout is to be staged by the Ryan A. C. of New Haven and Brown has posted $250 to make 135 pounds at 3 o'clock in_the afternoon. There is much speculation all over the state as to whether Brown will be able to stay the ten round limit against Champion Leonard. _ There are many New Haven fans backing Brown to stay, while others believe the New Haven boy will be knocked out in short order. The club has matched Battling Lahn of Brooklyn and Billy Fitzsimmons of New Haven for the ten round semi. final bout, but in order to accommo- date the out of town patrons, the club has arranged to stage Leonard and Brown at 9 o'clock and put on the Lahn-Fitzsimmons bout to close the show. Young Mulligan of New Haven and Battling Green of Hartford will open the show with a m-r?under. Fearless Five Wins. The newly organized bowling feam namely the Fearless Five, defeated the Grinding Room Five of Marlin-Rock- well Arms Co. Wednesday night at the Aetna alleys by taking the three straight games. HOW NORWICT BOYS FARED AT TERRY Thanksgiving a Day Long to Be Re- membered by 34th Company.’ (Special to The Bulletin.) . Headquarters of the Thir L. 1. S., Fort Ter] Dec. 5. —Thanksgiving was a bif for the boys on the island. Besides and a number of itors a bountiful dinner was pro- ed and included turkey and all of the fixings. Every man in the com- pany went away from the tables With a satisfied expression after -the meal which was partaken of by many of the visitors. Before the men sat doww to the tables Captain W. G. Tarbox read the president’s proclamation and then offered prayer. The menu, which was made up in an appropriate man- | ner, was as follows: Oranges a la_Goldie Tonsomme a la Terry Let the band play loud music Poquetanuck Turkey a la Tarbox Mashed Potatoes Mashed Turnips Explosive D Cranberry Sauce a la King Skirmish T.me Shirapnel . Punk Fie a la Nichols Pie Mixed Nuts Hydrolene Oil Tent Pegs la Ayery During the past month a number of men from the various companies on the island have taken examinations for first and second class zunners. The returns from those examinations were given out during the past woek and this company fared better than any other company on the post in having men get through. Thirty-three mem- bers of the company were made gun- ners this number includes fifteen who were made first class gunners. The company now has forty guuners which s a, fine showing. P The company now has' sixteen’first class privates, two more having ‘been made since the last muster roll. The two men that have been muade recent- are Willlam Doiahue and Homer Wilbur. At present all of the men are look- ing forward to the time when they will receive orders to depart from the iskind. It is already known that part of the company will leave as“part of the 56th artillery regiment and it will be in either Company B or D. This much was made known to the men Monday morning and since that time | everyone has been on the anxious seat to learn whether thiey. are to be among those - picked for the foreisn service' or among those to spend the winter cn the isiand. The regiment will be. mounted on motor trucks with big. guns and this is just the branch of the service the men have been looking for. For the past week the men have been forced toleave-their telephone num- ber and their address before they could leave the post.. This coupled with the orders received by the offi- cers Monday morning would make it seem as if the company. was to leave in the near future. The drills for the various, companies on the island have been made harder since it was learn- ed that the men . would leave for TFrance in the near future. During the Jong eveninzs the men rnake the most of the new V. M. C. A. building that has been erected on post. Many fine entertainmenta have been provided for the men.
