A re-inforced concrete wall will be erected at the Municipal Gas and Electric plant in Greeneville by Con- tractors Peck McWilllams. Contractor Ambrose Sullivan has a force of workmen at work on the Chapman block at the corner of Droadway and Bath street. The wall on the Bath street side of the build- ing is to be torn out and a re-en- forced heavier wall will be put up. Decrease in Bank Clearings — Little Building” Activity. The clearings of the Hartford banks for the past week in comparison with the same week of last vear, show a Gecrease of 23.7 per cent., jvhile those of the New Haven banks for the same period show a decrease of 4 per cent. Sales of real estatd during the past week, as shown Dby the number of warranty deeds filed in the cities of the state reported in The Commercial Record, numbered 373, comparing with 34 in the corresponding week of last vear. Mortgage loane for the woek totaled $1,026,228, as against $1,329,668 in the third week of November iast Year. Petitions in bankruptcy for the past week numbered four, with assets Af $17,673 and liabilities of $20,586. A year ago but two petitions, having to- tal assets of $1,411 and labilities of $1,839, were filed in Connecticut. New companies were formed dur- ing the week to the number of seven, as against 12 in the like week of 1916. Total capitalization last week amount- ed to $470,000, while last year the new ~ompanies had total £570,000.
