BRIDGEPORT POLICE SEARCH FOR SLACKERS Stop Men on the Streets and Demand Their Registration Cards. Pridgeport, Conn. June 27.—Police began holding up all young men on the streets here, in many parts of the city, demanding their registration cards under the conscription law. Many of the men declared they had left their cards at home, and in all such cases this excuse was accepted. The police sald, however, that later the week the presentation of the cards would be required and no ex- planation would be recelved for their absence. No arrests were made today this movement. RECORD VOYAGE MADE BY DESTROYER SHAW Made 5,858 Miles in 14 Days, 10 Hours and 20 Minutes. Washington, June 2 —The destroyer has completed a record voyage a Pacific port to an Atlantic approximately 5,858 miles—in s, 10 hours and 20 minutes.
