LETTERS FROM TWO STATES New London County GALES FERRY Auxiliary to Norwich Red = Cross Formed, With 20 Members, After Address by Mrs. Robert W. Perkins —Charles H. Chapman Honored ‘on Birthday—Deer Swims Across River. At a meeting held at the home of Miss Caroline B. Freeman, Tuesday afternoon, Mrs. Robert W. Periins of Norwich, gave a talk on forming an auxiliary to be known as the Gales Ferry auxiliary of the Norwich chap- ter of the Red Cross. Thers were 20 ladies present. Mrs. Perkins furnish- ed as work for the new auxiiary, Tospital bed shirts, which were taken to_make. Mrs. Walter M. Buckingham is the promoter of the local auxiliary, and io date the following members have joined: Mrs. Edward H. Latimer, Miss Sarah T. Latimer, Mrs. Walter M. Buckingham, Mrs. Caroline B. Registration day was made notice- able in the village by the rinine of the M. E. church bell by order of the se- lectmen of the town of Ledyard, at 7 o'clock in the morning, at twelve-fifty, midday, at 7 o'clock in the evening. It being the first occasion the bell had ever been rung except for services of the church, there seemed an unusual significance in the tome. Sunday Services. Rev. James M. Potter spoke in the M.
