There is unusual enthusiasm over the expected visit of Thomas Mott Os- borne ang the ladies of the Y. M. C. The notorious attack made upon Mr. Osborne by certain officials during his term as warden of Sing Sing prison still fresh in our minds, as is also his _complete vindication by court and his victorious reinstatement _in that prison, from which he has since i resigned. ' Since leaving Sing Sing as its warden, Mr. Osborne has spent two weeks at the Naval Penitentiary at Portsmouth on the request of Sec- retary Daniels in an_investigation of conditions there. — Deciding that he could pest study these conditions by becoming a prisoner, he did so. The {experiences of those weeks Mr. O borne tells in his own immitable way.
